HOW TO GET HERE
Car hire
If you are hiring a car or have arranged transport to get to the gallery, it will take you approximately fifteen to twenty minutes to get to Valletta from Malta’s International Airport in Luqa, depending on traffic. There are a number of car rental companies operating from the airport itself, with vehicles very close by on site.
Once you reach Valletta by car, you’ll be able to park inside the city itself, but only within the CVA parking parameters. http://www.cva.gov.mt
Alternatively, you can park outside the CVA zone, or within one of the nearby carparks.
Traveling by bus
If you are catching a bus to the gallery, it will take roughly twenty to forty minutes to get to Valletta, depending on traffic. From the Malta International Airport in Luqa, you’ll need to catch bus route number X4 towards Valletta from the bus stop directly outside the airport arrivals lounge. This will take you straight to the Valletta bus terminus, after which it will be a ten-minute walk to the gallery. Visit the Malta Public Transport site for more information on routes, tickets and schedules.
Traveling by taxi
If you are traveling by taxi to the gallery from the Malta International Airport in Luqa it will take you approximately fifteen to twenty minutes to get to Valletta, depending on traffic.
Traveling by ferry
If you are traveling to Valletta from Sliema or the Three Cities you have the option of using the Valletta Ferry Services. Be sure to check the ferry’s website ahead of your journey to ensure there are no schedule disruptions. The walk from the ferry dock to the gallery should take no longer than fifteen minutes.
Barrakka Lift
If you are a cruise ship passenger and have arrived in Valletta via the Seaport Terminal, the Upper Barrakka Lift is the easiest way to get to the gallery. The lift is approximately 500 metres away from the terminal, just opposite the landing place for the harbour ferry crossing. The lift’s two carriages each hold 21 passengers and take about 23 seconds to get from the base of the lift to the exit point – the Upper Barrakka gardens.
TICKET PRICES
Entry to VC is free but we do rely on our visitors’ donations to maintain the gallery’s operations and keep our world-class programme running.
